Psoriasis is the flaky, sometimes itchy patch that occurs most commonly over elbows, knees, and lower back. It bleeds on scratching rather than oozing which is common with eczema. Sometimes, flakes on your scalp that are resistant to normal anti-dandruff treatment can be scalp psoriasis or sebopsoriasis.
Why does psoriasis occur? It is multifactorial. Hence, the treatment is also multimodal. Environmental triggers often cause the symptoms of psoriasis to flare. Although it is not currently possible to cure this disease, recent developments in psoriasis treatments mean that it is possible to reduce the number of flares and their severity, helping the patient to be more in remission. So, do not fall for the false hopes that psoriasis can be cured.
